What should I know?
‘HIDE!’ is a short horror film that showcases the trauma that families with a gay parent can manifest. The film follows siblings, Ervin and Leah, through a gruesome night at their childhood home in Joshua Tree, CA. A perfect mesh of family disfunction and home invasion; ‘HIDE!‘ lives in a world that mirrors reality. My intent is to bring this story to life in a chilling, fast-paced, cinematic, and honest way. My influences are Pascal Laugier (Martyrs, The Tall Man), Alexandre Bustillo & Julien Maury (Inside), Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and Marcus Nispel (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre [2003]). Each of these directors was able to successfully capture the fear, tension, and desperation with precision. They created worlds that should have been comfortable, but everything that was right was also wrong. I am going to create a similar atmosphere for ‘HIDE!,’ one that provides the illusion of safety.
What will it cost?

Where could this live?

Short films have a bad reputation when it comes to ROI, but thanks to platforms like Hulu, Shudder & Screambox that has changed. The search for original content is at an all time high and ‘HIDE!’ fits the format for all the aforementioned platforms. Hulu and Blumhouse teamed up to create ‘Into the Dark’ while Shudder & Screambox have released a handful of horror shorts (i.e. ‘The Substitute,’ ‘The Quiet Room’).
We plan to submit ‘HIDE!’ to film festivals such as Sundance, SXSW, TriBeCa, Hollyshorts, and Outfest. We believe that the film has a great chance at securing a premiere and that exposure will help us with our goal of finding distribution.
